Jamie Gilbert
Jamie graduated from St Mary’s University in 2005 with a BSc (hons) for Sports Science and Psychology which followed several years of involvement in soccer from U6 to U21 level. Jamie has worked with the "Football in the Community" programme set up by Wimbledon FC, latterly AFC Wimbledon, which included soccer coaching in under-privileged areas to help develop the game in these communities. For the past 5 years Jamie has worked with Conference club, Sutton United, as Coach to the Reserve (U21) and Youth sides (U18) where he has been fundamental in improving the standard of coaching across all age groups as well as the internal coaching structure.
Jamie’s successes have included coaching and developing the following players who have gone on to sign professional youth contracts with top flight English clubs. Adam Phillip (Chelsea FC), Jerson Dos Santos (Crystal Palace FC), Lee Angol (Tottenham Hotspur FC) Billy Dunn (Sutton United FC).
His playing career included spells at non-league Tooting and Mitcham, Carshalton Athletic, Sutton United and at the English Premier League club, Fulham FC. Whilst studying at University and in the period since, Jamie has become increasingly involved in soccer coaching from U6 to U21 level, having gained his English FA coaching qualifications.
After coaching at local schools in London, Jamie had a period in the United States coaching in the Mid-West where he was contracted to MLS and where he spent time with Chicago Fire, running team and summer camps across the region before completing a Player Development Officer (PDO) programme in Indiana. .
Jamie is heavily involved with the Sports Science element of coaching and regularly presents on injury rehabilitation and diagnosis, dietary requirements, dehydration and rehydration, statistical analysis and the effects of biomechanics on performance.
